Description
The tree is exceptionally large. The roots are pressing against my house causing damage the front wall and the sidewalk is ruined due to the size of the stump. This is a photo of one of the cracks in my basement wall directly in front of the tree. Also an image of the sidewalk. it is at least 14 inches above the level part of the sidewalk. it causes issues with people walking by my house all the time. During the heavy rains and snow from last week the walls started leaking. I scraped the paint only to find TREE ROOTS! see the images below. I spent $200 for temporary repairs. This is getting out of hand. I have spent over $25000 on damages from this tree. Which is just over 40 years old. My house is almost 200 years old. Which is more important? I'm against trees. Just a right sized tree in it's location and proximity to the house. I am NOT against trees. I just want the right size tree for the location

- Staff · February 10, 2021Urban Forestry has addressed this issue numerous times with the resident. The resident has been made aware of the variance to the municipal tree policy if they wish to attempt a private removal of this tree. This tree is healthy and removal isn't justified by our tree ordinance. This tree was contract pruned last fiscal year.
