- Staff · September 29, 2020The below message was sent by email to resident on 9/29/2020 Good afternoon! I’m writing in response to a letter received on September 28,, 2020 concerning a Cedar tree (S1 ID 136195) at 5635 Forest Hill Ave. At the time of my inspection I did not observe any health condition of concern. Additionally, I did not observe a lean of concern or the tree resting against wires (see attached picture). At this time I cannot justify removal of this tree per Richmond City’s Municipal tree ordinance. I can offer to prune the tree further away from the house and will need a contractor to do so. A contractor is needed for this due to the trees close proximity to primary distribution lines. Ifyou’d like me to place this tree on my contractor’s list for pruning please let me know ASAP and understand it will be completed sometime during this fiscal year. Attached to this email I included an application for variance to the municipal tree policy. This form along with a tree removal application (attached to this email) will need to be completed if you believe there is further reason to remove the tree. Please understand the variance process requires director approval and will likely require remediation expenses of $340 per 1.5 inch of canopy loss to be paid by the party requesting tree removal. Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. Thanks!
