Description

This large and poorly marked intersection is a dangerous location for drivers, pedestrians and bikers. Going through this intersection feels like a game of chicken, and those of us who live in the surrounding neighborhoods must take the chance multiple times a day. I request that you please send a traffic engineer out to review existing signage, traffic markings, visibility site lines, etc. Upon entering this huge intersection from any of the four directions (two ways on McCloy, exiting the toll road, or down Douglasdale), signage indicators are small or non existent. Cars going down McCloy do not have a stop (should they?), and cars in the opposite direction do. Drivers enter the intersection at HIGH speeds and worth uncertainty about what they are supposed to do. To say that walking or biking here is a challenge would be a major understatement. Th ere are no crosswalks, and see above info about confused and speeding cars. This intersection is a popular path from Windsor Farms, Rothesay, and Douglasdale neighborhoods to take to Carytown, Byrd Park, and the Kickers/City Owned stadium. Many of us send our children this way, and it is terrifying. Please see my earlier submission regarding the other nearby intersection (DPW000055868) perhaps these could be addressed simultaneously.

The seven year crash history does not show any reported crashes at the intersection of McCloy/Douglasdale/RMTA ramp. Pavement marking arrows will be replaced at the intersection and a 25mph speed limit sign is planned on McCloy. MFR - Prepare sign and marking work orders as noted in my email. TAB
