Description

I have several trees beside my house (city of Richmond and VDOT property) that are slowly falling into my yard and onto my house because they are dying as a result of being choked off by ivy. Last year, one of these trees fell into my yard and into the street. Fortunately, there was no damage done to homes or cars, but it is only a matter of time before they do fall and damage my home. I need for someone to come out and cut these back ASAP before they fall and damage our home. Thank you to the surveyors who came out fairly quickly after I submitted this request. What I've learned is that many of the trees that are slowly falling on my house are right on the line between the City of Richmond's property and the property of the RMA (I-195). While I know that we are dealing with COVID-19, and since I haven't heard from anyone since, I can see that this will likely be a situation neither party is willing to act. Again, the tree is not just leaning, it is slowly falling as the tree last year did. This time, when it falls, it will be my home that will certainly be damaged. I fail to understand how this jurisdictional issue that involves a tree that is in the process of falling on a person's home and greatest investment cannot be resolved in a more timely manner or at least assurances given to the homeowner as to a plan of action that involves the removal of such a threat to property.

Per Doug Inge: We measured the trees along the fence beside the city property adjacent to #3210 Grant Street. From the angle point in the fence near the road to the corner of the city property, about 92' further down along the fence, there are 4 ivy covered cherry(?) trees. All 4 measure to be on the city property as measured at dbh. Only the farthest one from the road is dead. Again, the cluster of trees near the front corner of the house is also on city property. I will be glad to meet with you on site if you have any questions. Thanks.

Trees of concern to the citizen are on RMA property.
