Description

Alley behind my house (between North and Barton) seems to have a water main leak underneath. These "potholes" are always filled with water, even if it hasn't rained recently and as you can see in my photos, looking up and down the alley and neighboring alleys you don't see any wet spots. This leads to these turning into constantly bigger and bigger potholes. If you found that this was due to a water leak, you would save the City a lot of time and work constantly filling the holes. These holes are now ridiculously deep and my girlfriend damaged her vehicle driving through it and having her car scrape. I've written an email to Councilman Hilbert and various people at the City to hopefully get this properly addressed and have the cause i.e. the leaking water fixed versus just having gravel dumped in the holes again. -------------------- Update 8/21/20 I noticed about a week or so ago the city was out in the alley working on something for pretty much the entire day. They did fill in one big hole with gravel but the rest remain. However, I did see a pipe on the ground while they were working and am now noticing that the water I mentioned before is almost all the way dried up, so obviously some work was done. Thank you! That's very encouraging. From here I'd request that you please do something about the potholes, as many very deep ones still remain and it's still causing cars to scrape in the alley. I don't want more damage to occur to anyone's vehicle because they didn't take one of these craters at the proper angle and speed. Because it seems you may have fixed the water issue, hopefully once you fill these they will stay filled for a much longer time than they were before. Thank you!
