Description

Please conduct an official traffic study of E. Broad Rock Road & Holly Springs to E. Broad Rock Rd & Belt Blv. at McGuire Hospital. This area is primarily residential with small convenient store and gasoline service station. I have observed E. Broad Rock Road from Holly Springs to Belt Blvd. for (6) months. This community is saturated with significantly heavy vehicular traffic to include GRTC buses. Vehicle traffic is always at high speeds resulting in crashes. A huge public safety risk. I have observed this community for (6) months and noticed the significant amount of travel through E. Broad Rock Road. There has been one vehicular crash. RPD set up local speed temporarily to slow it down. No impact. Street scapes is the only public safety option here. The community garden is also at traffic risk. There is a point entry onto E. Broad Rock Rd. Installing state funded round-about would be appropriate at Holly Springs Ave. & in front of McGuire Hosp. at Belt Blvd. where recently an ambulance over turned at Belt & Hull St. Rd. Please consider and approve traffic study to install public safety scapes in the E. Broad Rock Road Community. Thank you. Without a civic association or neighborhood watch for this community for many years, it has declined in support from the City and Property Owners. Insufficient Street lighting is another example of the area impacted with public safety issues. The area GRTC bus stops on E. Broad Rock Road between Holly Springs and Belt are dark. Decorative lighting along this corridor would enhance and provide safety measures for commuters and pedestrians as there are sidewalks. A resident's petition to request and for the City to facilitate these public safety measures is forthcoming accordingly. Thank you for your consideration. In reference to tree roots, when street scapes are installed, there may be some landscaping? Thank you. Please note that there are or appears to be (6) traffic points on E. Broad Rock Road (3200 E. Broad Rock Rd., Holly Springs Ave., 32nd St. 3100 & 3200 Block of Stockton St. All of these points are at the Community Garden which is situated between Stockton and E. Blake at E. Broad Rock Road. Please be advised that I am the contact on this request respectfully. Thank you. In addition, inadequate sidewalk lighting on E. Broad Rock Road and the GRTC Bus Stops is overdo and invites criminality. The E. Broad Rock Road Community is appreciative and hopeful that you will reach back in support, budget, design, install and maintain public safety standards for the residents E. Broad Rock Road, South Side Richmond, 8th District. Thank you. Dear DPW Traffic Engineering Team; Please note that there continues to be heavy traffic and vehicle accidents on E. Broad Rock Road from Belt to Holly Springs Ave. Some have taken place directly in front of my residence in which tow trucks were required. This area is also bike shared. Very dangerous conditions. Please provide an update on the status of traffic calming (street scape) measures for this community. Thank you for your consideration. Please contact Richmond Police 2nd Precinct at 804-646-8092 to verify the number of vehicle traffic accidents on E. Broad Rock Road between 36th Street and Holly Springs Ave. Thankfully, there were no fatalities. Thank you. You can also contact Melissa Paige at 804-646-0663 regarding this issue. Thank you. There are several vehicle crash incidents that are taking place on E. Broad Rock Rd. from and between Belt Blvd to Holly Springs. Please see recent photos of crash on March 23, 2020. Correction: Vehicle crash was on March 24, 2020. Thank you.
