- Staff · April 2, 2019essage: Hello! I received a call from the city of arborist giving me permission to remove a tree that is in a city alley next to my property line. I wanted to follow up because reading the online codes, itsays I need written permission to remove any trees in the public right of way. I just wanted to at a minimum have this in writing, seeing as this was just discussed over the phone. Additionally, could you point me in the direction of the code that states we are responsible for these trees? The arborist seemed to be reading a code that we are responsible for any trees that are closest to our property line in the alley, up to the center of the alley. I just wanted to have this code for reference and understand what other responsibilities I may have with the alley as a new home owner in the city. Thank you very much! Alysa Baird
