- Staff · December 5, 2018Trees that are planted in the City Of Richmond are done either of two ways: • 1) Tree Planting Permit- The application can be obtained online at the City Of Richmond’s website. http://www.richmondgov.com/ • The Arborist will inspect and approve the site, and tree species. • The Applicant will obtain the approved tree and install it. • The Arborist will return and inspect the installation • 2) The Adopt A Tree Program • Applications are accepted from July 1 to Sept. 1st each year. The tree planting schedule is November 1, to April 30. Please note that trees will be planted at any time during this planting period based on individual species requirements.
