- System · February 22, 2019calling to check the status. she states she is going to call the mayor office
- Staff · August 1, 2019erelle Robinson sent an email: Our office received a complaint from Mrs. Wright (804. about a tree that is close to collapsing located at 2114 Maplewood Avenue. She claims that the tree is rotten and poses athreat to neighbors and the children who play on the sidewalk where the tree is. Her request was entered into RVA311 on 8/21/18, and it seems as though two trees were cut down near the tree in question by the comments, and it has caused Mrs. Wrightto call back in with the last update being on 2/22/19. Our office would appreciate the assistance from Urban Forestry and 311 to resolve this issue.
- Staff · August 1, 2019poke with resident by phone. The tree is healthy and the lean has not changed over the past decade, as evidenced by Google streetview and by arborist's (who is a neighbor) almost daily sight assessment. There is a large hole beisde a DPU water line that needs to be assessed by DPU, and some sidewalk issues that need assessment as well. I will continue to monitor the tree for any changes. No bees or hornets have ever been observed by the arborist. As in the past, today there were no insects of any kind. Spoke to Ms. Sookins-Wright ar length and she would like the sidewalk assessment asap, transferring ticket to that division.
- System · September 11, 2019Citizen is still concerned about this tree and she is stating that the tree is leaning so bad that the sidewalk has buckled and the tree is full of silk worms. The tree also stays full of bees and her tenants had to use the back entrance of the home to enter and exit the dwelling to avoid being stung. Really wanting someone to come cut down this tree.
- Staff · April 21, 2020Tree assessments continue, because the arborist lives half a block away and walks past this tree daily. No bees, worms, or insects of any kinds have been observed. Tree lean is unchanged over the past decade and no signs of instability. Sidewalk work can move forward at any time. Tree will continue to be monitored but it is healthy and safe at this time.
