Description
We have had one accident per month on Bainbridge. People fly down the intersection and multiple cars have been hit or totaled. I think a stoplight or speed bump would deter accidents

Comments
- Staff · May 5, 2025wrong request type; fwd to DPW

- Staff · May 6, 2025DMV only had three reported crashes at the intersection of Bainbridge St and W. 14th St for 1.1.22 - 12.31.24. (I sent an email to a Lieutenant with the Richmond Police Department for comments on the crashes.) DPW must perform engineering studies in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop or a traffic signal. DPW is not planning to install an all-way stop or a traffic signal because the intersection does not meet the MUTCD traffic requirements. Today we have No parking zones on both sides of Bainbridge St at 14th St eastbound (i.e., a No Parking sign on the north side and a fire hydrant (no parking by law) on the south side.) These measures enhance the intersection sight distance. The Fire Marshall doesn’t support speed tables on Bainbridge St since this is a strategic route for emergency vehicles.
