Description

This is a request for button-activated flashing caution lights for pedestrians, not a stop light. The Monument/Allen circle is still dangerous for pedestrians. Middle school children cross it on school days, on top of runners and walkers in the area. Parked cars and plantings provide poor visibility at all four corners of the circle.

DPW’s Operations Manager at the sign shop reviewed the request for more NO PARKING signs on an earlier RVA311 request and installed signs as appropriate. Advised the DPW Signal Systems Engineer about the request for flashing caution lights for pedestrians.

Andy, i believe they are requesting a RRFB. Do you have any pedestrian improvement for this intersection? Please evaluate.
  • Staff · May 9, 2025
A Rapid Flashing Beacon is currently not being considered. Improvements to this intersection such as increased signage have already been installed. Our upcoming Pedestrian Master Plan will also enhance crosswalks and increase pedestrian visibility.
