Repair Stormwater Drain

Description

We live downhill from Bethany Christian Church and are working with them to try to solve our flooding issues. Most of the water that runs off the bldg and parking lot does not reach the storm drains. The only place for the water to go is into our yards. The drain at forest hill and Westower is clogged and backs up into the street and prevents the ditch from properly draining. The house at the corner of yeardly and Westower has a steady stream of water that goes down their driveway and into the yard instead of reaching the ditches. When it is rainy out there is really nowhere for this water to go except our yards. I think several of us have tried to address the water issues but there simply is too much. We have many pictures and videos of all 3 problem areas during light and heavy rains. We would like the city to help us figure this out.

  investigation into this request found ditches in the 1500 Block of Yeardley in need of cutting and pipes exposed to contain water to the even side of the street. The 5500 block on the odd side of Westower Dr. has areas that needs ditch maintenance down to the intersection of Forest Hill Av. and Westower. Customer also has concerns about the amount of runoff from the Church parking lot that is allowing water to enter the back of the yards on Westower causing water to enter there crawl spaces. There appears to be a utility easement between the church property and the residence on Westower, however no drainage easement to maintain to control the flow of water.

  Onsite meeting conducted with Councilwomans office, residents and associated church in question. Location is being scheduled for maintenance and a small project along the church easement.

  There has been 18"x 50' of galvanized pipe put in at this location and Ditches have been cut open to allow water to flow to Forsthill Rd. this ticket & 485805 is now complete. closed.
