Description

We have had significant damage to our yard and home following 2 major rains in August. There is no stormwater drain on the downslope of Evelyn Byrd Road, therefore no brisk or cement is missing. To complete this report, I had to give a response where none was required. With no storm drain on the downslope of Evelyn Byrd Road, the excessive storm runoff resulted in debris, leaves, and trash left in the gutters on Evelyn Byrd road to block the normal runoff to Wayside Springs. This blockage of the normal runoff resulted in our yard being flooded and overflowed our koi pond. It has taken several weeks to clean the debris, trash, soil, and plants that have clogged our alley and caused our koi pond to overflow, as well as caused moisture damage to our home. I have apprised Kristen Larson New of this situation. She recommended that I communicate this issue with

Following an assessment and brief conversation with concerned citizen it is determined there is No storm water asset issue but rather an issue of debris and minor trash washing from the road to the alley causing a build-up in the flow line thus blocking the intended flow to the rip rap media outlet installed to facilitate the drainage from the alley to the intended downstream course. It was also noted the vegetation growth to either side of the alleyis causing a hinderance to the intended flow as well. The alley's construct is cobblestone with asphalt linear edges. The intended flow line is the center of the alley as this is the alley's lowest point. This is not a storm water issue but rather analley maintenance issue and possibly the responsibility of the homeowner to stop their trash and yard debris from gathering in the alley. I have included two photos taken at the site at the time of assessment. This information will be close from the storm water city works que and a copy/notification sent to Alley maintenance DPW Division.
