Description
A some-shaped asphalt structure has been placed to compensate for a manhole cover which was not placed level with the road surface when this section of Jahnke Rd. was repaved. I was nearly run off the road this morning when an unsuspecting motorist saw the obstruction at the last minute and swerved in an attempt to avoid it. The top of the dome is about 3 - 4 inches higher than the road surface and the dome is in the left hand lane of the two-lane portion of Jahnke Rd. heading West toward Chippenham Hospital. It is a severe traffic hazard and also causes damage to vehicle suspensions and alignment. As it exists, it violated standard engineering practice which specifies manhole covers must be even with the road surface.
